SIGN OF THINGS TO COME??: Top-Ranked QB Seriously Considering Small Program … Should The Big Boys Be Worried This Will Become A Trend??

Julian Lewis, dubbed one of the undisputed top stars of the 2025 recruiting class, has ignited a frenzy in the college football world.

While he has previously committed to Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans, Lewis will be embarking on several recruiting visits as he decides where he really wants to play.

Among the array of top programs vying for his commitment, the Indiana Hoosiers have emerged as contenders eagerly anticipating his scheduled visit later this month.

Of course, “top-ranked quarterback” and “Indiana Hoosiers” are not often used together in the same sentence.

However, the Hoosiers seem to have a punchers chance to land Lewis due to a few interesting reasons.

Lewis, a five-star quarterback, has visits scheduled to other powerhouse programs including Georgia, Auburn, and USC.

Again, he has been committed to the Trojans since August, but it’s clear he wants to play the field a little bit before firmly deciding where he wants to play college ball.

Although in the Big Ten, Indiana is quite far from being considered a college football powerhouse.

So why would Lewis seriously consider them as a possibility???

Well, as it turns out, Lewis has some strong relationships already built with a few key individuals within the Hoosiers program.

“I’m not ready to write off Indiana. Tino Sunseri – that relationship is very real. And let’s be honest, if that kid steps on campus, there’s nobody else that’s going to keep that dude from playing in year one,” 247 Sports recruiting analyst Tom Loy stated.

The relationship between Lewis and Tino Sunseri, Indiana’s new quarterbacks coach, stretches back to their encounter at an Alabama camp in 2021.

Sunseri’s presence at Indiana, alongside head coach Curt Cignetti and offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan, adds allure to the Hoosiers’ pitch.

Cignetti, who assumed the helm in November 2023, has articulated his vision to elevate Indiana’s standing in the Big Ten, with aspirations of challenging perennial powerhouse Ohio State.

The backing of sporting magnate Mark Cuban, whose influence permeates the Hoosiers’ athletic department through significant investments and NIL deals, further bolsters Indiana’s appeal.

Nonetheless, the Hoosiers face stiff competition from heavyweights across the country when it comes to securing Lewis.

One of the questions fans are wondering is: does Lewis want to be a big fish in a small pond or a big fish in a big pond???

That’s absolutely nothing against Indiana’s program and what they’re trying to build in Bloomington, but it would be quite unprecedented if a quarterback as heralded as Lewis actually commits to the Hoosiers.

Although, we are living in the new age of NIL and nothing talks louder than money for most people – so anything is possible, especially if Cuban gets heavily involved…

Notably, Lewis was spotted wearing an Indiana towel during a workout…

But we all know that means absolutely nothing!…

What are your thoughts on Lewis as a quarterback?

Do you think he’s as good as what the evaluators make him out to be?

Does Indiana actually have a chance to land him? … If so, could that be the start of a possible trend, especially in this day and age of NIL and deep-pocket donors?

At the end of the day, where will Lewis be playing college football???
