Ryan Williams Commits To Alabama Again After Saban’s Retirement

Five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams has reaffirmed his commitment to Alabama, making the announcement on Wednesday. Williams had originally committed to the Crimson Tide in October 2022 but re-evaluated his decision on January 10, 2024, following the retirement of former head coach Nick Saban. After exploring other options, including visits to Texas A&M and Auburn, Williams has chosen to continue his football journey under the guidance of new Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer.

Speaking about his decision, Williams stated, “What you see is exactly what you get with [DeBoer]. I definitely had a strong impression of him. He was just telling me how I could fit into the offense and how easy it would be just carrying over what I do now to the next level.”

Williams is currently ranked as the No. 3 wide receiver and the No. 8 overall player in the 2024 recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports. Originally part of the 2025 class, Williams accelerated his graduation timeline in December 2023 and is set to join the Alabama team this summer.

Described by Gabe Brooks, national scouting analyst for 247Sports, as an “electric playmaker with excellent top-end speed and make-you-miss elusiveness,” Williams possesses the necessary attributes to excel as a dynamic receiver both on the outside and in the slot. He also offers versatility with the potential to take hand-offs in certain situations, making him an immediate option in the return game at the college level.

During his high school football career, Williams amassed an impressive record, with 187 catches, 3,254 receiving yards, 47 receiving touchdowns, 94 rushing attempts, 1,078 rushing yards, and 24 rushing touchdowns over three years. Alabama fans can look forward to his arrival and the impact he is expected to make on the field.
