Ryan Day Responds To Jim Harbaugh’s Claim That Michigan Is “America’s Team”

Earlier this week, Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh stirred the college football world with bold proclamations about his team, asserting that they are “America’s Team.”

“Just the perseverance and the stalwartness of these guys, watching (Michigan vs. Penn State) I would have to say to everybody…that’s got to be America’s team,” Harbaugh declared.

“America loves a team that beats the odds and adversity and overcomes what the naysayers, critics, and so-called experts think. That’s my favorite kind of team.”

Of course, we now know that Harbaugh has accepted the three-game suspension that was looming over him. However, his stance that his Wolverines are “America’s Team” is as strong as ever.

With their showdown against Ohio State only a week away, the college football world was curious what Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day thought of Harbaugh’s bold proclamation.

Naturally, he deflected and stayed away from providing anything in the way of bulletin-board material.

“It’s been a long road to get to November, and each team has its own identity,” Day said. “Here we are in November. Coming to work every day with these guys – the consistency, the maturity, the competitiveness, the look in their eyes – this is a great team to be around with great guys.”

“It’s about these guys on the team. It’s about the guys that put it on the line on Saturday and put the work in here. We will do that again this week and keep swinging.”

“When you start to get ahead of yourself, you start to lose focus on right now. That’s the challenge … Making sure you stay in the moment because there’s nothing you can do but maximize right now. That’s what we will do.”

Unfortunately, due to the suspension, Harbaugh will miss that Michigan-Ohio State showdown.

Do you think the three-game suspension is fair?

Who will end up winning next week???
