Jon Gruden may be nearing a return to the NFL.
According to reports, Gruden’s old team the Las Vegas Raiders are keeping a close eye on him, and owner Mark Davis is said to be very interested in potentially rehiring him as head coach.
However, the potential reunion comes with a significant condition – Gruden must drop his ongoing lawsuit against the NFL.
Sports Illustrated recently broke the story, revealing that Davis is eager to bring Gruden back to the Raiders fold.
The charismatic coach, who led the team until 2021, could find himself back in the mix if he agrees to put an end to his legal battle against the league.
“There are a lot of people who feel that Mark Davis… the person he trusts the most is Jon Gruden and would love to bring him back.”

Gruden, who signed a 10-year, $100-million contract with the Raiders in 2018, faced a tumultuous exit from the team following an investigation into leaked emails he sent to then-Washington GM Bruce Allen.
The emails contained offensive language, leading to Gruden’s resignation when the scandal became public.
Just not with the Raiders, he can go anywhere else

Despite parting ways with the Raiders, Gruden didn’t exit the stage quietly.
He initiated a lawsuit against NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the league, arguing that they improperly publicized the scandal.
The lawsuit is still ongoing, but the recent reports suggest a potential resolution might be on the horizon.
He can scheme, that’s confirmed. But if he does comeback and coach (with the Raiders or elsewhere) it should be contingent on him staying away from any and all GM duties.

Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce is doing a solid job and is reportedly well-liked amongst the organization.
Pierce’s performance down the stretch could influence the team’s decision-making, possibly resulting in the removal of his interim label during the upcoming offseason.
However, Davis will surely do a wide search, with Gruden apparently being a legitimate possibility.

What are your thoughts on Gruden possibly returning to the NFL?
Of course, the lawsuit will have to get figured out before anything happens … But could you see Gruden back in the silver and black???
