REPORT: The Rich Get Richer As #1 QB Recruit Commits To Major Power Program … Best Days Still To Come??

The rich got richer as the #1 quarterback in the Class of 2026 announced his commitment to Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Jared Curtis, who hails from Nashville, Tennessee, chose Georgia over power programs such as Alabama, Ohio State and Texas.

“He just told [Georgia head coach Kirby Smart] … We are so excited,” Curtis’ mother, Barbara, said to Steve Wiltfong of 247Spoirts.

Ranked the ninth overall player in the Class of 2026, Curtis is universally-viewed as a top-level prospect.

In his junior year of high school, Curtis threw for 2,522 yards, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

He also flashed impressive mobility and amassed 543 rushing yards and 13 scores on the ground.

Described by Andrew Ivins of 247Sports as a “big-armed quarterback prospect with some moxie,” Curtis has drawn attention from top-tier programs across the nation.

Ultimately, Curtis decided that Athens is where he wants to be.

“Just the way all their coaching staff is together and how are they are supportive to each other, and I know they’re settled and not going anywhere,” Curtis said of Smart’s staff at Georgia.

“Just the way they’ll develop me as a person and player and the people around me will always help me get to the next level,” he added in reference to why he chose the Dawgs.

“I’m home! Go Dawgs!” Curtis exclaimed in a statement to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

There’s no doubt Georgia is still feeling the pain from their devastating loss to Alabama in last season’s SEC Championship Game.

The surprising defeat cost the Bulldogs a chance at a historic three-peat.

Looking ahead, Georgia is expected to be top contenders to win the national title next season. In many ways, it feels like we’re on a Bulldogs-Buckeyes collision course.

Led by Heisman Trophy favorite Carson Beck, it would be shocking to not see Georgia make a (very) deep run in the new 12-team playoff field.

What are your thoughts on Curtis’ decision to commit to Georgia?

As far as next season is concerned, do you think the Dawgs have a better team on paper than Ohio State?

Are we looking at yet another national championship for Kirby’s squad???
