Aaron Rodgers joining the New York Jets was the biggest storyline of last offseason.
Unfortunately for Gang Green, we all know how chapter one played out…

With Rodgers well on his way to fully recovering from his devastatingly-cruel Achilles injury, the Jets will effectively “run-it-back” this coming season.

He may have only played four regular season snaps last season, but Rodgers reportedly earned a hefty “performance” bonus of $81.14 for all of his hard work.
“The (performance) system rewards all NFL players based on their playtime and base salary. If a player has a low base salary but plays a significant number of snaps, he earns more through the system,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
“However, with Rodgers experiencing the opposite scenario — a high salary and playing just 0.33% of snaps due to his torn Achilles — his total amount came to $81.14,” he added.
Jets QB Aaron Rodgers earned $81.14 through the NFL’s performance-based pay system, the lowest amount among all NFL players last season.

Hey, $81.14 is nothing to sneeze at – but for someone who has earned roughly $343 million in football contracts alone, it’s a pretty funny number.
For an example of how the performance bonus system works, San Francisco 49ers star quarterback Brock Purdy reaped $739,795 under the program.
For reference, his base salary in 2023 was $985,000. But of course, he way over-performed that figure.

Overall, the highest earner in performance-based pay was actually a teammate of Rodgers – Jets guard John Simpson who amassed an impressive $974,613 in bonus money.
The league disbursed a total of $393.8 million through the program for the 2023 season, highlighting the significant financial implications for players across the NFL.
All that just for this result. With Jets luck, it's his other one come week 1#NFL #NFLTwitter #Sports #Football #SportsNews #Jets #NYJets #TakeFlight #NYC #NewYork #Injury #AaronRodgers pic.twitter.com/IdxglpD55J

I wonder if Rodgers was issued a check for that $81.14 … If so, maybe he used it to wipe his nose.
Or maybe he used it to buy a Filet-O-Fish combo meal at McDonalds. (Although I’m not sure $81.14 would quite cover that these days.)
I had a bigger bonus than Aaron Rodgers https://t.co/cxSZrf0tSE

Getting back to actual football, what are your thoughts on Rodgers and the Jets going forward?
Will Aaron be able to get back to his old MVP level? … Or are those days long gone?
In the bigger picture, where do you rank Rodgers among the best quarterbacks in NFL history???
Sorry, #Jets fans, but my algorithms predict yet another losing season for your team. The Jets, my algorithms predict, will finish the season with a record of 6-11 (98.76% certainty). Aaron Rodgers will play poorly and eventually sustain yet another season-ending injury.
