In the midst of contract negotiations being at a standstill with quarterback Dak Prescott, the Dallas Cowboys are contemplating their future.
Owner Jerry Jones has made it clear that his preference is to work out a long-term extension with Prescott and ideally make him a “Cowboy for life.”

However, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Dallas is reportedly considering selecting a quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft.
“What are they going to do at quarterback if they lose Dak?” Schefter said on NFL Live. “That’s interesting. And, that’s why I think the Dallas Cowboys just might be a sleeper team in the quarterback market in the NFL Draft.”
Adam Schefter said during Tuesday’s episode of NFL Live that he thinks the Dallas Cowboys could be a sleeper team to draft a quarterback based on the fact that Dak Prescott is currently set to enter the final year of his contract.

“Because, at some point in time, they might have to draft a quarterback, higher than you’d think, at some point in time, because Dak is going into the last year of the contract, and it might be time to get somebody in there to start grooming,” he added.
“Just like they found Dak Prescott in Round four, it might be time to go find another quarterback, in another round, to begin getting him ready.”
I highly doubt it…. Drafting a quarterback, would mean that the Jones actually want to compete to win, they are allergic to winning based off what we’ve seen

Schefter emphasized the urgency, suggesting that the Cowboys might need to select a quarterback earlier than expected, considering Prescott’s contract situation and the need for long-term succession planning.
Despite family members suggesting otherwise, Prescott reportedly wants to stay and help the Cowboys finally get over the hump.
Needless to say, his asking price is not cheap, and that has caused progress to understandably slow down in the matter.

There are also legitimate concerns over whether Prescott is truly capable of being an elite franchise quarterback capable of winning a Super Bowl.
While Dallas certainly doesn’t lack for talent, their constant playoff struggles are absolutely maddening for Jones and the fan base.
The sour taste of last season’s 48-32 playoff loss (at HOME) to the Green Bay Packers won’t be going away anytime soon.

Despite Jones’ public stance on Prescott, the Cowboys have a very important decision to make.
Would it be reckless to have Prescott play out his deal and just make a decision on him after the season?
Some will say you can’t risk him leaving … But would that truly be the worst thing in the world?

Should the Cowboys draft a quarterback in the early rounds to solidify depth at the position while also protecting their future?
After all, this is one of the best quarterback drafts in recent memory. The talent goes much deeper than just the top guys that everyone talks about.
For you Quarterback Obsessives: Only 11 QBs taken in the Top 3 of the #NFL draft have gone on to win an NFL title or Super Bowl. Just 6 won with the team they broke in with. While Trey Lance and Cooper Rush are both on the roster, no one is going to confuse either of them with being the future of the team.
Perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to draft a quarterback with legitimate potential and develop him as best you can.
Worse comes to worst, maybe he could be an option in case Dallas has to let Dak walk … Stranger things have happened, even for a “win-now” team.
It would be awesome..Dak has takin them as far as he is capable of

What are your thoughts on Schefter’s report?
Do you think the Cowboys should draft a quarterback?
Deep down, is Prescott truly capable of being a legitimate franchise quarterback who can win Super Bowls???
