REPORT: Ohio State Has Reportedly Zeroed In On THIS Star Transfer Quarterback … Will He Save Ryan Day’s Job??

Shockwaves were sent through the college football world when Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord entered the transfer portal.

It’s not that he was the biggest of names or the best of players, but if McCord could enter the portal fresh off an 11-win season in Columbus, anyone could.

It spoke to the Wild Wild West nature of the transfer world than anything.

With McCord now committed to Syracuse (that’s a story in itself), Devin Brown now finds himself with an opportunity of a lifetime for Ryan Day’s Buckeyes in their upcoming bowl game against the Missouri Tigers.

Regardless, we all are curious what the future holds for the Buckeyes … Perhaps Brown plays great and takes a strangle-hold on the position going forward.

But as far as the big picture, reports are coming out that Day and the Buckeyes have their eyes set on a bigger name – by way of the transfer portal…

According to Pete Nakos of On3Sports, Kansas State transfer quarterback Will Howard is weighing offers from two college football powerhouses and even contemplating a leap to the NFL.

Nakos shared his insights on the situation during an interview with Andy Staples on the “Andy Staples On3” podcast.

“That’s another one where I think the NFL is going to actually be on the auction board,” Nakos stated. “Jan. 15 is another day to know. I’ve heard USC, I know he obviously visited Miami. I don’t think Miami is very confident he’s gonna land there.”

The report indicates that Howard has narrowed down his choices to Ohio State and USC, eliminating Miami from contention after a visit earlier in the offseason. Nakos hinted that the Buckeyes are actively in the market for a quarterback, dispelling any notion that they are comfortable with their quarterback situation.

“Obviously, Ohio State is still shopping for a quarterback. I don’t think they’re completely off the quarterback market … But yeah, I think the Buckeyes definitely are at least looking at Will Howard. And USC, obviously, and Lincoln Riley would obviously love to add him and have Howard be the starting quarterback for the Trojans in 2024.”

Howard had a strong 2023 season, passing for 2,643 yards and 24 touchdowns through the air. Additionally, he contributed 351 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the ground, highlighting his dual-threat capabilities.

With the January 15 deadline looming, it’s clear that Howard’s decision could very well affect the landscape of the 2024 college football season.

Yes, he is that good…

Do you think he will transfer to Day and the Buckeyes?

Or should he look elsewhere?

What will end up happening with Howard?

Most importantly, what does Ryan Day need to do to keep his job past the 2024 season???
