The Saquon Barkley era is officially over in New York (Jersey).
In what is a star-studded free agent running back class, Barkley was one of the biggest – if not THE biggest – name on the market.
While he ends his relationship on good terms with the Giants, he certainly took full advantage of the opportunity to stick it to Joe Schoen and Big Blue.
In somewhat of a surprising move, Barkley is signing with the hated Philadelphia Eagles on a three-year deal, worth $37.75 million with $26 million guaranteed.
Former Giants RB Saquon Barkley reached agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles on a three-year, $37.75 million contract that could be worth up to $46.75M and includes $26M fully guaranteed at signing, per sources.

Expressing gratitude and excitement for the next chapter, Barkley took to social media, tweeting on X: “Thank you to everyone who has shown me love and support over the past 6 years… forever grateful! Excited for the next chapter.”

Barkley leaves the Giants as one of the franchise’s most popular players in recent memory.
Although his tenure with Big Blue will go down as a disappointment, Barkley was always a loyal soldier and a great leader both on the field and in the locker room.
He never lived up to the sky-high expectations that were set for him after being drafted with the second-overall pick out of Penn State.
(Although in fairness, a lot of that had to do with the Giants dysfunction and inconsistencies on the offensive line.)

They may have slightly overpaid, but the Eagles look at the move as a two-birds-one-stone type of signing.
In desperate need of a bounce-back season, Philadelphia hopes that Barkley will successfully bring his toughness and leadership down the turnpike.
At 27-years-old, Barkley still has good football left in his tires. He will head to Philadelphia more motivated than ever and figures to have a massive chip on his shoulder.

As one of the biggest names in the NFL, Barkley’s decision to sign with the Eagles is certainly a juicy one.

What are your thoughts on Barkley’s decision to sign with the Eagles?
How about the contract? … Did Philly overpay for him?
How much does he have left in the tank?
Will the Eagles be able to bounce back next season? Or do their problems run much deeper than realized???
