It’s no secret that it’s been quite a controversial offseason for Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys.
While the Boys remain one of the best teams in the league on paper, there is growing concern over what’s going to happen with stars Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons … All three need their contract situations addressed and only time will tell what will happen.
Regardless, it was quite a scene at Cowboys training camp when Parsons and fellow defensive star Trevon Diggs engaged in a playful shadow boxing match.
Diggs, who is in the process of returning from a torn ACL that kept him sidelined for much of the previous season, challenged Parsons to a sprint.
Displaying notable progress in his recovery, Diggs kept pace with Parsons, highlighting his impressive comeback. Their friendly competition was a testament to Diggs’ improving health and readiness.
The two teammates also enjoyed a mock boxing session, providing a light-hearted moment that underscored the importance of team bonding.
The playful interaction serves as a reminder of the significance of camaraderie during training camp, which plays a pivotal role in fostering team cohesion.
In addition to their on-field activities, Parsons and Diggs have been actively participating in morning meetings with the defensive staff. Parsons recently spoke about the value of these sessions.
“We’re meeting every morning. No choice, special teams. We’re meeting for about 45 minutes every morning: me, him, Paul – and I was like Trevon, you might be out, but you’ve still gotta learn the same way I am,” Parsons told the NFL Network.
The All-Pro linebacker emphasized that these morning meetings are crucial for understanding the defensive strategies and integrating new elements into their play.
“Me and Trevon is in the meetings every morning learning, going over the system, adding things, what am I comfortable with, teaching me the game … They want to get me to the point where I can teach the defense to the other guys, and so far, those morning sessions have been taking me above and beyond.”
As the Cowboys navigate early camp issues related to contract negotiations with Parsons, Prescott, and Lamb, the positive energy and high spirits of the players offer a welcome boost.
While the pressure and spotlight always shines on Dallas, you get the feeling that it will all be amplified this season.
If the Cowboys fall short of the Super Bowl once again, it won’t come as a surprise if Jones makes a run at Bill Belichick … Wouldn’t that be something???
