Pro Bowl Star Shocks NFL With Stunning Decision To Abruptly Retire

In a shocking decision, running back Tarik Cohen has informed the New York Jets of his decision to retire, ending his attempted NFL comeback.

The 29-year-old Cohen, known for his standout performance as an All-Pro returner with the Chicago Bears in 2018, saw his promising career marred by a series of significant injuries.

His last appearance in an NFL regular-season game was in 2020, when he suffered a broken leg and tore two ligaments in his knee.

This injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season and all of 2021.

Cohen made an attempt to return in 2022, only to face another setback when he tore his Achilles tendon.

Last year, he spent time on the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad, continuing to work toward a full recovery.

The Jets signed Cohen this spring, partly due to the new kickoff rules, hoping he could be a valuable asset as a returner.

During spring practices and the initial week of training camp, Cohen appeared to be in excellent form.

“I definitely feel all the way back,” Cohen stated at the time. “I’m just trying to show the Jets the explosiveness that I have, the smartness that I’ve gained from being in the league, and lift as I rise – help all the guys in my position group.”

However, just two days after expressing his renewed confidence, Cohen has opted to retire, leaving fans and the Jets organization in surprise.
