Philadelphia Eagles Players Advocate for Nick Sirianni’s Continuation as Head Coach

PHILADELPHIA — Fletcher Cox passionately dismissed any notion of the Philadelphia Eagles parting ways with Nick Sirianni in the upcoming season. The 12-year veteran expressed his frustration, stating, “Huh? Come on, man. He’s the head football coach of this team. Come on, man. There ain’t even no f—ing discussion about that, man.”

Cox was among several Eagles veterans who rallied behind Sirianni as the team cleaned out their lockers much sooner than expected. This was a team that started the season at 10-1, holding the best record in the league by a two-game margin after 12 weeks, with high expectations for a Super Bowl return.

However, a string of six losses in seven games raised concerns, and Sirianni now faces a crucial meeting with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie on Friday, as reported by the Inquirer. The focus will be on presenting a plan for coordinator changes going forward.

Despite the disappointing results that marked the end of the Eagles’ season, offensive lineman Jordan Mailata defended Sirianni, emphasizing the coach’s efforts to keep the team together. Mailata acknowledged the need for accountability among players, stating, “At some point, players have to take accountability. Film don’t lie, you can see that.”

While uncertainty looms, Jason Kelce, a respected figure in the locker room, expressed his preference for Sirianni’s return, citing the coach’s organizational skills. Kelce said, “I’ll always have faith in Nick Sirianni. I think he does a lot of things structurally and organizationally that I think are really well done.”

The endorsements for Sirianni extended to key leaders in the team, including the franchise’s quarterback, Jalen Hurts, who signed a $255 million contract.

Hurts, when asked about Sirianni’s future, responded, “I didn’t know that was a thing. I don’t see why that wouldn’t be the case. We plan on fixing everything we’ve done, growing together. Coach Sirianni, Brian (Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson), everyone.”

As the meeting between Sirianni and the front office approaches, Hurts emphasized his confidence in the coaching staff and the management, stating, “I just wanna play at a high level. I have a ton of confidence in Coach. I have a ton of confidence in Howie (Eagles GM Howie Roseman). I have a ton of confidence in Mr. Lurie. I have to do my job and control the things I can.”
