Paul Finebaum Reveals His Surprising Heisman Trophy Pick Entering Week 8

USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams’ quest for a second-straight Heisman Trophy took a massive hit last week in South Bend.

There’s now a new favorite for the hardware as we enter Week 8.

During a recent segment on SportsCenter, ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum didn’t hold back as he shared his thoughts on the current state of the race, singling out one player in particular who has grabbed his attention.

“It was the biggest game of the year, it was the best game of the year and it was the biggest moment of the year by Michael Penix Jr.,” Finebaum said, referring to Washington’s dramatic win over Oregon.

“You cannot say, ‘Give him the Heisman,’ although I’m tempted to this morning.”

“But he now has at least one hand wrapped around it, and there are other big games that he will play and he has to continue to play well,” Finebaum continued.

Finebaum also spoke of Williams’ failure at Notre Dame.

“In a moment like that at Notre Dame, you can let the Heisman get away. It’s hard to get it back when you start to go in the opposite direction,” he said.

As far as Penix Jr. – He has carried his Washington Huskies to an undefeated 6-0 record and the #5 ranking in the country.

Throwing for 2,301 yards, 20 touchdowns and just three interceptions, he sure is off to a great start.

Who is your Heisman favorite as of now???
