Paul Finebaum Names The One Team That Is Back From The Dead & Back In The Title Race

LSU fans had reason to celebrate last weekend as the Tigers roared back to life with a commanding 41-14 victory over Mississippi State.

Many predicted that all the cow-bells would prove to create a tricky spot for Brian Kelly’s bunch, especially considering the way they struggled on Labor Day weekend against the Florida State Seminoles.

However, to their credit, the Tigers came out on a mission and made easy work of the Bulldogs.

The win was seen as a significant turnaround for LSU. Severe doubts had crept in after that hideous loss to Florida State.

However, it seems like Kelly has righted the ship with help from his Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback, Jayden Daniels.

ESPN’s Paul Finebaum was quick to take notice.

Appearing on “McElroy and Cubelic In The Morning,” Finebaum expressed his surprise at how LSU was able to turn things around.

“You could just tell that they looked like they were in a different mindset. You saw that immediately as that game began,” he said.

Finebaum also cautioned against reading too much into early-season results, acknowledging that LSU had started flat, allowing 45 points to Florida State in their season opener.

“Analysts can read way too much into those early games,” he said.

However, he made sure to note that LSU is right back in the thick of the SEC picture (and potentially the Playoff picture as well).

He believes that despite the ugly loss to Florida State, LSU remains the best team in the SEC West.

Climbing up to #12 in the AP poll, LSU looks to continue their momentum when they take on the Arkansas Razorbacks Saturday night.

What do you think of LSU?

Do you look at them as legitimate national championship contenders?

Or was the dominant victory over Mississippi State a bit of fool’s gold?
