Oklahoma Football Faces Another Quarterback Transfer After Dillon Gabriel’s Move To Oregon

The college football transfer portal has been buzzing with activity this season, and one of the notable names making a move is former Oklahoma football star Dillon Gabriel, who is set to join the Oregon Ducks for his final year of college football. However, the Sooners have now lost another quarterback to the transfer portal just days before their Alamo Bowl showdown with Arizona. Senior Davis Beville has entered the transfer portal, according to Pete Nakos of On3sports.

Beville, who has played in 15 career games and previously played for Pitt, posted a highlight video of his time with both Pitt and Oklahoma on his X account after the announcement.

Originally, Beville spent his first two seasons at Pitt before transferring to the Oklahoma football program. However, he found himself behind Dillon Gabriel on the depth chart and later fell behind talented freshman Jackson Arnold. Beville’s only career start with the Sooners was in 2022 during the Red River Rivalry game, which they lost 49-0. He still has one year of eligibility remaining.

This move doesn’t come as a surprise, as Arnold is expected to be the starter in 2024 and beyond, and the program is welcoming other signal-callers like Michael Hawkins and Brendan Zurbrugg in 2024. Sooners fans will have the chance to witness the future of the quarterback position firsthand as Jackson Arnold takes the reins in the upcoming Alamo Bowl against Arizona on December 28 in San Antonio.
