Nick Saban Attacks NIL Rules

The college football world is changing.

Some think for the better. Some think for the worse.

For Nick Saban, it’s a mixed bag.

Saban is widely-perceived as the greatest coach in college football history.

When it comes to issues regarding player safety and clock rules designed to help the matter, Saban is in favor.

However, he has concerns when it comes to the slippery slope of NIL which has turned the sport into the wild wild west.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Saban said the current system, or lack thereof, doesn’t benefit players as well as it should.

“Guys are not going to school where they can create the most value for their future,” he said. “Guys are going to school where they can make the most money.”

Saban said he has been in contact with Senators Tommy Tuberville (Alabama) and Joe Manchin (West Virginia) to try and possibly improve the NIL system…

As is usually the case, Saban will have his supporters – but more loud will be his haters who will never pass up a chance to take a shot at him…

“Something else for Saban to whine and complain about even though he has the most unlimited resources. Dude has to be nearing retirement.”

“I’m in love with the idea that creating value is different than making money for players but…not for Nick Sabin? & also, having taught at LSU in the Sabin years, that it’s education of his players he valued? LOL imagine believing your own lies.”

“Never stops complaining. If someone gets a competitive advantage over him, he complains and tries to get rid of it. What a joke.”

“Does anyone really believe that Nick Saban and Alabama didn’t use NIL to get the number one class this season? Are we really going to be that naive and think the same things Saban is complaining about he isn’t doing and hasn’t been doing?! Nick has hit the get off my lawn age.”

“I predicted 3 years ago that the “final” solution would be to make the athletes EMPLOYEES under the Athletic foundations or the University itself. To do anything else makes for a completely opaque, un-auditable system of money laundering the cartels would envy. I stand by that.”

“So colleges shouldn’t be holding career fairs and networking events and hosting events that allow researchers, authors, and engineers to make more money??? What exactly does he think the purpose of college is? To get even compensation for your unequal talent and brand??”

“Nick Saban, who infamously stepped over a collapsed player as coach of the Dolphins, is suddenly concerned about player safety. I wonder what could have happened recently to inspire this newfound interest in potentially shortening games? Hmmm…”
