Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons remains present at training camp despite not being too thrilled with his current contract situation.
With a base salary of just $2.989 million this season, Parsons is set to play well below market value.
Meanwhile, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who has been with the team a year longer than Parsons, is absent from camp as he negotiates for a long-term contract.
Lamb, who is currently holding out, is seeking a new deal after playing the previous season on a base salary of $2.52 million.
He is slated to earn $17.991 million on the fifth-year option this year.
Lamb enjoyed a phenomenal season in 2023, leading the league with 135 receptions, 1,749 yards, and 12 touchdowns, earning his first All-Pro selection.
Parsons revealed that Lamb has been in touch.
“CeeDee checked in on me,” Parsons said. “He’s been watching the practice film and telling me, ‘You’re going crazy.’ We have our talks but, at the end of the day, [he] knows what it is.”
The absence of Lamb has been felt in the Cowboys’ locker room.
“Obviously, we miss him,” Parsons said. “He’s one of the best people you can have in a locker room. I’m pretty sure he’ll be here soon.”
The Cowboys’ season opener is scheduled for September 8, and Parsons is confident that Lamb will be ready.
“CeeDee is a part of this brotherhood whether he likes it or not,” Parsons stated. “He knows he’s not going anywhere. The business side, they’re going to take care of it. No doubt about it.”
As negotiations continue, Parsons is optimistic that Lamb will join the team in time for the start of the season.
“On Week 1, he will be suiting up for the Dallas Cowboys,” Parsons affirmed.
