Mets Suffer Major Injury Blow

The New York Mets enter this season with the most hype and highest hopes of any team in baseball.

Those hopes took a hit yesterday with the news that pitcher Jose Quintana suffered a stress fracture in his ribs that is expected to sideline him for an extended period of time.

The team wouldn’t put a timeline on his return – but he was force to withdrawal from the upcoming World Baseball Classic where he was slated to compete for Colombia.

The Mets signed Quintana to a two year, $26 million deal in hopes that he would cap off what is expected to be one of the best starting rotations in the league.

Now the Mets will have to search for a replacement to bridge the gap until Quintana can get back healthy…

Mets fans are used to bad news – especially when it comes to injuries.

They reacted like only they could…

“Is it really spring training if a projected starter in the Mets rotation doesn’t leave spring training to go to New York for further medical evaluation?”

“Mets sign the most durable pitcher in baseball. Gets injured. What else is new.”

“After his first spring start, I was like meh, he’s just working on some things/it’s early. After today’s news/injury that thought changes. Hopefully Peterson and Megill are getting stretched out.”

“Mets training staff need to be investigated.”

Time to trade for Corbin @StevenACohen2 He’s unhappy in Milwaukee. They treated him poorly in arbitration.
