Mets Pitcher Gets Scary Injury News

Jose Quintana is a very important piece of the New York Mets’ pitching rotation.

That’s why the recent news that he was going to miss the first several months of the season with a rib injury was so devastating.

However, Mets general manager Billy Eppler revealed yesterday that the situation was a whole lot scarier than originally thought.

Eppler told reporters that Quintana had a “lesion” on his rib, and had to see a tumor specialist.

Fortunately for everyone, the results were benign, and that’s the most important thing.

However, his bone graft surgery will keep him out until at least the all-star break.

The Mets still have superstars Max Scherzer and newly-acquired Justin Verlander – but they were counting on Quintana to help fill the void of former Cy Young winner Jacob DeGrom who departed for the Texas Rangers…

The baseball world reacted to the news on social media…

“How did this not show up on the physical when they signed him?”

“Glad it is benign & he will be okay! On a less important note, stuff like this is why every MLB team needs a surplus of starting pitchers Mets should be able to give Quintana all of the rest + rehab he needs to be 100% healthy before returning.”

“oh my god that’s horrible.”

“Hoping for a speedy recovery. At least they’ve gotten to the bottom of the issue and Peterson & Megill should give us the depth we need till his return.”

“Praying for his full and speedy recovery.”
