Joel Klatt of FOX Sports is one of the more intelligent college football analysts in the country.
During an appearance on “The Next Round,” Klatt made a virtual guarantee of what the SEC Championship Game matchup will be.
This probably won’t come as a shock to you, but Klatt predicts that Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide will win the SEC West and take on Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs who will win the SEC East in Klatt’s eyes.
“Mark my words. Alabama will win the West and play Georgia for the right to go to the Playoff this year,” Klatt confidently declared.

Klatt’s prediction comes as Alabama, a perennial powerhouse, has faced a tumultuous season with struggles on the offensive side of the ball.
They have somewhat righted the ship, however the 2023 Tide aren’t your typical Nick Saban Bama team.
On the other hand, it’s a pretty safe bet that Georgia will win the East. Klatt is not shocking anyone with that declaration.
There’s also the fact that the SEC is down this year for their normal standards.
At the end of the day, Klatt is probably right – We most likely will be getting an Alabama-Georgia matchup with a Playoff spot most likely on the line.
Down year or not, going through the heart of the SEC schedule won’t be easy for either side.
