LSU Secures Commitment From Dominick McKinley, No. 3 Defensive Tackle In 2024

Kicking off the new year with a decisive move, LSU made a significant addition to their roster by securing the commitment of ESPN 300 defensive lineman, Dominick McKinley, who was previously committed to Texas A&M.

McKinley, a towering figure at 6-foot-5 and weighing 290 pounds, is a highly regarded prospect, holding the 33rd overall spot in the 2024 class rankings. Despite initially remaining committed to the Aggies, he opted not to sign during the early signing period in December. Hailing from Acadiana High School in Lafayette, Louisiana, McKinley has made a name for himself as the third-ranked defensive tackle in his class.

His commitment to Texas A&M dates back to September, but a significant turn of events occurred when head coach Jimbo Fisher was relieved of his duties. This prompted LSU to intensify their recruitment efforts towards McKinley, eventually leading to his decision to flip.

McKinley’s switch is part of a larger trend at Texas A&M, which has witnessed ten decommitments since October. Among the notable departures are five-star receiver Cameron Coleman, who chose Auburn in December, ESPN 300 athlete Dre’lon Miller, who signed with Colorado, and four-star offensive linemen Coen Echols and Weston Davis, both of whom committed to LSU.

With McKinley’s commitment, LSU’s 2024 class boasts an impressive roster of 12 ESPN 300 prospects. McKinley stands as the highest-ranked among them, accompanied by tight end Trey’Dez Green, ranked 94th overall, and athlete Jelani Watkins, holding the 99th overall spot. The Tigers are poised to harness their recruiting momentum as they gear up for an exciting season ahead.
