However, there’s a chance Smith might choose to take his talents elsewhere, including Miami. The Hurricanes extended an offer to the 6-foot-3 receiver, who visited the school over the summer. Additionally, they recruited Cedrick Bailey, Smith’s high school quarterback.
While Ohio State competes to keep Smith, the talented wideout has attracted attention from his home state, making unofficial visits to Florida and Florida State. In a positive scouting report, Andrew Ivins of 247Sports compared Smith to Julio Jones, describing him as “a potential WR1 for a College Football Playoff regular” and one of the most talented wide receiver prospects from South Florida.
Smith’s skills, including the ability to beat defenses over the top and make high-level grabs, could be valuable for Ohio State, especially with the potential departure of Marvin Harrison Jr. to the pros. The program is likely hopeful that LeBron James’ endorsement adds weight to their recruiting efforts.
