This season seems much more open than most when it comes to the Playoff hunt.
While the undefeated Georgia Bulldogs are going after a three-peat and are looking sharper by the week, they are not the squad that Herbie considers the best team in the country.
That honor would belong to none other than the mighty Washington Huskies.
“You can make an argument right now that Washington is executing at a level as the best team in college football. If you ranked them #1 in the country, I don’t think anybody could argue with you,” Herbstreit said.
“The way [Michael] Penix [Jr.] is throwing the football, they’ve got great receivers, they can run, the defense is flying. Kalen DeBoer has these guys believing. Second year, big season last year. Washington right now looks great.”

The Washington Huskies have been building momentum all season, showcasing their explosiveness on both sides of the ball.
Their offense, led by quarterback Michael Penix Jr., has been firing on all cylinders, and their defensive unit has been strong all season.
