In the realm of ranking quarterbacks in the NFL, one name that consistently finds its way to the top is Patrick Mahomes.
However, when asked to name his top five quarterbacks in the league, Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson managed to shock the football world.
Stunningly, he left his own Pro Bowl quarterback, Kirk Cousins, off the list.
Cousins takes a lot of unwarranted crap from people – but the fact remains he’s a top-tier quarterback who happens to have one noticeable, yet significant, flaw – performing in primetime games.
That’s not even the point however.. If you’re any receiver in the league, your own quarterback needs to be in your top five list, whether he’s deserving or not.. That’s just being a good teammate!
Nevertheless, Jefferson did not hesitate to share his unfiltered opinion. The All-Pro receiver’s ranking aligns with popular sentiment, albeit with some potential disagreements over the order.
During a conversation with Danilo Lacalle on a recent trip to Brazil, Jefferson unveiled his top five NFL quarterbacks, headlined by the Chiefs Patrick Mahomes, a choice that comes as no surprise.
However, the rest of his list raised some eyebrows.
#1. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs
#2. Aaron Rodgers, Jets
#3. Joe Burrow, Bengals
#4. Jalen Hurts, Eagles
#5. Josh Allen, Bills

While Cousins may not find himself on Jefferson’s list, considering the caliber of quarterbacks mentioned, it is unlikely that the Vikings signal-caller will feel snubbed.
As a matter of fact, Cousins wasn’t even aware of the list when asked about it during a radio appearance on KFAN-FM 100.3’s Power Trip Morning Show.
“I didn’t even see it. This is the first time hearing about it,” Cousins said. “As a competitor, yeah, you always want that. People have to be honest and share what they think and I’m not going to tell somebody what they need to think and hopefully in 2024 I’ll be on his list. We’ll see what we can do this year.”
That’s the perfect response by Cousins.. He makes it clear he’s not bothered by it – but also makes it obvious that he’s going to use it for extra fuel and motivation.
What do you think about Jefferson’s rankings?
Yes, most of you wouldn’t have Cousins on your top five lists – but does it make Jefferson a bad teammate to not include Cousins on his?
