For the second consecutive day, former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden was spotted at Kansas City Chiefs training camp.
Gruden, who last served as head coach for the Raiders in 2021 before his tenure was cut short by a scandal involving inappropriate emails, was seen observing practice and engaging with players as they went through their drills at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.
Notably, Gruden was dressed in Chiefs gear, which is common for guests at training camp.
Although Gruden is not affiliated with Kansas City’s coaching staff, his presence has generated a buzz among fans, who were taken aback by the sight of a former rival coach on the field.
Footage shared on social media shows Gruden interacting with a member of the Chiefs’ coaching staff while walking around the practice field.
Gruden, widely considered one of the best coaches in recent memory, has been away from the NFL since resigning during Week 5 of the 2021 season.
His unexpected appearance sparked speculation about a possible return to coaching.
Adding fuel to the fire, Gruden was seen engaging in an extended conversation with Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.
Gruden remains embroiled in legal disputes with the NFL. Recently, he petitioned the Nevada Supreme Court to revisit their dismissal of his lawsuit.
The lawsuit alleges that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell orchestrated the release of emails in 2021, which contained controversial content, leading to Gruden’s resignation.
Both an NFL spokesperson and Gruden’s attorneys have declined to comment on the ongoing legal matters.
It’s safe to assume that Gruden would love to get back into coaching. Only time will tell if he gets another chance.
