Jim Harbaugh Expresses Full Support For Sherrone Moore As Michigan’s Head Coach

Michigan has chosen Sherrone Moore to take the helm of the Wolverines football program, hoping to continue the success achieved under former coach Jim Harbaugh. Moore, introduced as the new head coach, inherits the role after Harbaugh’s departure to lead the Los Angeles Chargers.

Harbaugh expressed his strong endorsement of Moore, saying, “I have 100% conviction that he will make us all very proud!!!” The former offensive coordinator signed a five-year contract with a base salary of $500,000 and additional compensation of $5 million in Year 1, with increases in subsequent years.

Moore is no stranger to leading the team, having guided the Wolverines to a 4-0 record in 2023 during Harbaugh’s suspensions for potential NCAA rules violations. This appointment makes him the first Black head coach in Michigan football history, a historic milestone celebrated by many.

Michigan players were vocal in their support for Moore, both privately and on social media, contributing to his selection as head coach. Moore joined Harbaugh’s staff in 2018 and played a key role in the Wolverines’ recent success.

While his journey to head coach may be formalized now, Moore’s coaching career began in 2009 as a graduate assistant at Louisville, eventually leading him to Michigan. His passion for making a positive impact on players’ lives has been a driving force in his coaching journey.

With Moore at the helm, Michigan aims to build on its recent achievements and maintain its standing as a powerhouse in college football. The Wolverines will undergo changes, including a new quarterback, as they prepare for the upcoming season. Still, the team remains optimistic about its prospects under Moore’s leadership.

The newly appointed head coach expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to continue working diligently to uphold Michigan’s football legacy. Moore’s coaching journey comes full circle, from his days as a young player at Oklahoma to his current role as the head coach of one of college football’s storied programs.
