If Georgia Is To 3-Peat, They’re Going To Have To Break A Very Ugly Curse

The Georgia Bulldogs are about to begin their quest for a remarkable third-straight national championship.

Unsurprisingly, they enter the 2023 season as the #1 ranked team in the country – as they should be.

However, history says that entering the season as the #1 ranked team is a bit of a curse – and if Georgia is to 3-peat, they are going to have to break some ugly odds.

“Godspeed Georgia: 17 of last 19 AP preseason No. 1 ranked teams failed to win national title. Only Alabama in 2017 & USC in 2004 overcame the preseason No. 1 jinx. Georgia also trying to become 1st 3-peat champion since Minnesota (1934-36),” cautioned college football analyst Brett McMurphy of the Action Network.

The Bulldogs, fresh off their second-straight national championship victory, now find themselves in the ultra-rare position of having to defy history to secure a three-peat.

While their top ranking is undoubtedly earned, it also serves as a stark reminder of the challenges that lie ahead. Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have knocked off Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide from the college football throne (at least for the time being).

It’s a remarkable achievement.. Getting there is hard. Staying there is even harder.

Georgia fans are hopeful that this year’s team possesses the necessary talent and determination to buck the trend and clinch their third consecutive national championship.

As the Bulldogs prepare to open their 2023 regular season against UT-Martin on September 2nd, the target is clearly on their back. They know they will get everyone’s best shot.

How do you think Georgia will do this season?

Dare I ask: Will they 3-peat?!?
