Hurricanes Coming??: Mario Cristobal Lands Monster Top-5 Recruit To Bolster Miami’s Future

The Miami Hurricanes are on a roll when it comes to recruiting, and their streak of landing five-star recruits continued on Thursday with the commitment of defensive end Armondo Blount.

Blount, a towering 6-foot-4, 250-pound talent hailing from Miami Central Senior High School, announced his decision to join the Hurricanes, adding to their already impressive 2025 recruiting class.

Blount’s commitment is a significant victory for the Miami Hurricanes and head coach Mario Cristobal.

He currently holds the #4 spot in the ESPN recruiting rankings and is regarded as the top defensive end prospect in his class.

Blount had several top-tier programs after him, including Florida State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and USC – but ultimately chose to stay close to home.

“1000% committed. I’m staying home!” Blount tweeted.Β

Cristobal has been on a recruiting hot streak, securing five-star talents in three consecutive classes.

The trend began in the 2023 class with the acquisition of offensive linemen Francis Mauigoa and Samson Okunlola. In 2024, the Hurricanes added star wide receiver JoJo Trader to their roster, and now they can add Armondo Blount to that prestigious list.

What do you think of the job Cristobal is doing at Miami?

He may be doing well in recruiting, but he’s going to have to start winning some big games on the field sooner rather than later.Β
