The Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns are preparing for their last season in the Big 12.
Next school year, both teams will transition to the SEC. While shifts between conferences are common in college sports, big teams making such moves can still be unexpected for some.
Houston’s head coach, Dana Holgorsen, doesn’t seem too bothered by the change. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Holgorsen expressed his indifference towards Oklahoma and Texas departing the Big 12.
“Screw them. They can go wherever they want. They don’t want us and we don’t want them,” he commented.
When asked by a guest at his radio show about Texas and Texas A&M – and how those departures made the Big 12 less desirable – Houston coach Dana Holgorsen says those two schools are reason why Cougars were left out of Big 12 for nearly three decades.

Houston is entering the Big 12 for the first time, and Holgorsen is already stirring things up. His team is set to play against the Longhorns on October 21.
While there won’t be a match between Houston and Oklahoma this season, many fans were looking forward to the potential drama. But for now, they’ll have to settle for the Houston-Longhorns game.
Houston’s season will begin with a game against UTSA on September 2.
