Lane Kiffin is one of the most entertaining (and polarizing) head coaches in all of college football.
Meanwhile, Morgan Wallen is arguably the biggest star in all of country music.
So, what happens when the two collide? … A great time and a whole lot of laughs.
Recently, Wallen ascended upon Oxford, Mississippi as part of his “One Night At A Time” tour.
Unsurprisingly, Kiffin was there front and center to take in the show at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Wallen is a staunch Tennessee Volunteers fan. He admitted that he tried his best to get the Ole Miss coach to don a Peyton Manning Vols jersey. But Kiffin, who had a short and disastrous stint at Tennessee, refused.
“I tried to get Lane Kiffin to wear a Peyton Manning jersey, and he said no,” Wallen announced with a grin, igniting laughter among concert-goers.
“So I think y’all oughta keep him around for a while.”
Kiffin, known for his wit and social media presence, responded to Wallen’s revelation in his characteristic style.
“Sorry, couldn’t do it,” Kiffin quipped on X while tagging Wallen.
His post was accompanied by an orange heart emoji placed next to Manning’s iconic #16.
Kiffin’s tenure at Ole Miss has seen its fair share of memorable moments, including a victorious return to Knoxville in 2021, where the Rebels clinched a 31-26 win over the Volunteers.
Needless to say, there isn’t much love lost between Kiffin and Tennessee – especially from the Vols side.
The fact of the matter is Kiffin has grown a great deal through the years. He’s much more mature than he used to be.
Regardless of how you feel about him, you have to respect the fact that he always tells it like it is. He’s much more honest and genuine than most coaches.
Getting back to actual football for a second – 2024 is shaping up to be a monumental year for Kiffin and the Rebels.
Kiffin has the best team he’s ever had at Ole Miss and with the playoff field expanding to 12-teams, it would be a shock if the Rebs don’t make the dance.
