Feisty Pro Bowl QB Confidently States That His Team Is “Built” To Dominate The Chiefs … Is KC’s “Dynasty” In Trouble??

Immediately following their Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers, the Kansas City Chiefs made it clear that they were already focused on a three-peat.

Sure, winning back-to-back Super Bowls is a nice accomplishment. After all, no NFL team had done that since the New England Patriots did back in 2003-2004.

But Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the entire Chiefs team seemingly turned the page in record time and begun speaking about winning three Lombardi’s in a row.

If they are to accomplish that lofty goal, they are most likely going to have to go through Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Burrow, expected to be back at full strength following his season-ending wrist injury, has gone on the record with a pretty strong take when it comes to the back-to-back champion Chiefs.

He believes his Bengals match up very well against Kansas City and are in many ways built to beat them.

“I think we both work really hard. They have great players, we have great players,” Burrow said. “I think we match up pretty well with them. I think we’re built to beat them.”

“I always appreciate the legendary battles we have. Guys are out there always making plays. Patrick is always out there making plays. Both teams have big-time defensive lines. It’s a great matchup.”

Although it may sound a little cocky to some, there’s nothing Burrow said that isn’t true.

The sample size may be relatively small, but very few teams – if any – have had as much success in recent years against the Chiefs than Burrow and the Bengals.

Notably, Burrow is 3-1 against Mahomes and the Chiefs in his career. And the one loss came in very controversial fashion.

You could easily make the argument that Burrow should be a perfect 4-0 against Kansas City. But still, the fact remains, if there’s one team that the Chiefs don’t look forward to facing, it’s the Bengals.

With Burrow returning to full health, it’s safe to assume that the Bengals will get right back to being a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

The chances they run into Mahomes and the Chiefs in the postseason figure to be pretty high.

Sure, the AFC has a few other notable contenders, but when push comes to shove, we know Burrow and the Bengals will be a tough out. (As will the Chiefs.)

No matter whose side you’re on, the budding Burrow-Mahomes / Bengals-Chiefs rivalry is great for the league.

You could make the argument that neither quarterback has even entered their prime yet. In other words, we’re likely destined to be in store for many more great battles in the years to come.

Perhaps we could have another Brady-Manning type rivalry on our hands.

What are your thoughts on Burrow’s comments?

Do you think he’s being a little too cocky?

Or do you like the confidence he’s showing in his team?

All things being equal, which quarterback would you rather have if you were starting a team today?

When their careers are both over, who will end up going down as the best quarterback of the two???
