Ex-Texas A&M Receiver Joins Oregon via Transfer Portal

In a significant move, Oregon secured a commitment from former Texas A&M wide receiver Evan Stewart on Thursday, bolstering their roster with one of the most sought-after transfers in the offseason portal.

Stewart, a standout from Memphis, Tennessee, and a five-star recruit in 2022, contributed significantly during his sophomore season at Texas A&M. He recorded 38 receptions for 514 yards and found the end zone four times. With two years of eligibility remaining, Stewart presents a valuable addition to the Oregon Ducks.

During his freshman year with the Aggies, Stewart started eight out of the ten games he played, amassing 53 receptions for 649 yards and two touchdowns, earning him SEC All-Freshman honors. His decision to enter the transfer portal aligns with a broader trend, as 19 scholarship players from Texas A&M have made similar moves since November.

Oregon’s active engagement in the transfer portal continues with the addition of Evan Stewart, following the acquisitions of former Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel and ex-UCLA quarterback Dante Moore. These transfers are strategic moves to address the departure of Bo Nix, the outgoing signal-caller.

Stewart’s arrival fills a crucial gap left by Troy Franklin, the team’s leading receiver who declared for the NFL draft. Returning receivers Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden, who combined for 16 receiving touchdowns in the previous season, add further depth to Oregon’s aerial attack.
