Ex-NFL Linebacker Criticizes Aaron Rodgers For Being “Selfish” And Attention-Seeking

Former NFL linebacker and Fox Sports 1 analyst Emmanuel Acho didn’t mince words when discussing New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Acho criticized Rodgers, calling him “selfish” for his quick return to the field following a torn Achilles injury.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh recently announced that Rodgers had been cleared to start practicing again, just 79 days after suffering the injury during the season opener against the Buffalo Bills. Acho expressed skepticism about Rodgers’ motivation for returning so soon.

“79 days after the Achilles, why is he coming back? I don’t think he loves his teammates, I think he loves attention,” Acho remarked. “Now it might be both…I think he has an insatiable appetite to hear about Aaron Rodgers.”

This candid assessment from Acho comes after Rodgers’ high-profile trade from the Green Bay Packers to the Jets and his efforts to restructure his contract to help the team clear cap space. Despite the optimism surrounding the Jets at the start of the 2023 season, Rodgers’ injury significantly impacted the team’s performance.

Without Rodgers, the Jets’ offense has struggled, leading to a change in starting quarterbacks from Zach Wilson to Tim Boyle. The team currently sits at 4-7 and hopes to break a four-game losing streak when they face the Atlanta Falcons in their next game.
