Even Travis Kelce Thinks The NFL Is “Overdoing It” With Painfully Excessive Taylor Swift Coverage

If you’re like me, then you’ve had more than your fill of the Travis Kelce – Taylor Swift coverage (obsession).

It’s so over the top that even Kelce himself has admitted that the NFL is “overdoing it” with all the attention and conversation surrounding the relationship.

Speaking on his popular “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Jason, Kelce made his thoughts clear…

“They are overdoing it a bit for sure, especially my situation,” he said when questioned by Jason about the extensive coverage. “They’re just trying to have fun with it.”

During the Chiefs 23-20 win over the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football, NBC showed Swift in her suite at MetLife Stadium a staggering 17 times.

“Damn, that’s crazy,” Travis remarked. “That’s like once a drive. Mom told me everyone was enjoying themselves.”

The pop star was joined in the suite by A-list celebrities Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Blake Lively. (Ironically, none of them were mentioned once as it was Swift who garnered all the attention and discussion.)

“They are not there to get thrown on the TV. You never know you get caught throwing down a big old cheeseburger and you look like an idiot. There are certain things you just don’t want to be on TV at all times,” Travis said of the constant spotlight.

On the flip side, the NFL is in the ratings business and proof has shown that the mere presence of Swift at these games has increased viewership.

Apparently, some people love seeing random 2-second shots of Swift every few minutes.

“The NFL is not used to celebrities coming to the games,” Jason said. “Basketball has it figured out … You show them once, let them know they’re there, maybe after a touchdown, but you can’t go overboard with it. People are there to watch the game.”

After the Chiefs sealed their controversial victory, the NFL faced criticism when it changed its Instagram account’s bio to read: “Chiefs are 2-0 as swifties.”

The league doesn’t seem to care about the push-back … As a matter of fact, they doubled-down with their support of the Swift craze.

“The Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce news has been a pop cultural moment we’ve leaned into in real time, as it’s an intersection of sport and entertainment, and we’ve seen an incredible amount of positivity around the sport,” the NFL said in a statement.

Despite the criticism, the Kelce-Swift relationship seems to be going strong…

What is your take on the situation?

Are you sick of the Swift obsession?

Or do you welcome it with open arms?
