Enormous Update Announced Regarding Lee Corso’s Future On College GameDay โ€ฆ Is This The Right Call??

Lee Corso is an absolute legend in the college football world.

As the face of ESPN’s ultra-popular College GameDay, Corso has been a large part of most fans’ rituals, routines and traditions. (After all, who doesn’t watch College GameDay on Saturdays in the fall??)

Having said that, due to age and health issues, it’s clear that Corso has lost several miles off his fastball in recent years.

For those who were hoping that Corso would be riding off into the sunset, it seems like your wishes won’t be coming true just yet.

According to reports, Corso will be back for yet another season – albeit in a potentially reduced capacity.

Of course, the upcoming season will also feature the much-anticipated addition of Nick Saban to the set.

The recently-retired Saban is widely considered to be the greatest coach in college football history. Some thought ESPN brought him onboard to replace Corso – but that’s not the case.

Although Corso will turn 89-years-old next month, he’s made it clear that if it’s up to him, he won’t ever leave GameDay.

โ€œIโ€™m gonna be like that guy in Vaudeville,โ€ Corso told GQ magazine last year. โ€œThey hook him around the neck, and they pull him off the stage as he keeps talking.โ€

An ESPN spokesperson confirmed Corsoโ€™s continued presence on the show.

โ€œFor those of you who wanted clarity on Nick Saban as it relates to Lee Corso. An ESPN Spokesperson confirms: Corso will be back on College GameDay next year,” Richard Deitsch of The Athletic reported.

Corso has been a fixture on College GameDay since its inception in 1987.

Following his playing career at Florida State, Corso went on to lead a respected coaching career which included stints at Louisville, Indiana, Northern Illinois and the Orlando Renegades of the USFL.

He holds a 73-85-6 career coaching record in college (5-13 in the USFL).

In other words, Corso has been a much better analyst than he was a coach. (No offense, Lee!)

Another order of business that ESPN has to get sorted out is the future of the polarizing Pat McAfee.

While McAfee is strongly expected to continue on GameDay, his contract reportedly needs addressing.

GameDay will be live in Dublin, Ireland for the Week 0 clash between the Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

The crew will then head to College Station for the enormous Week 1 showdown between the Texas A&M Aggies and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

What are your thoughts on the news of Corso continuing on College GameDay?

What are your thoughts on his career and legacy as a whole?

Yes, it’s sometimes hard to watch and listen to him – but he is and always will be a respected legend who can hold onto his GameDay seat as long as he wants.

Touching on actual football for a second, what’s your early prediction for the coming season? … Who will end up winning the national title? … Is it finally Ryan Day’s year???
