Eli Manning Teased The Jets On Monday Night’s Broadcast

The New York Jets found themselves under the spotlight on Monday Night Football, but not for the reasons they’d hope. Eli and Peyton Manning, known for their entertaining commentary on the ManningCast, couldn’t resist taking a playful jab at the Jets’ offensive struggles.

During the broadcast, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence joined the Manning brothers and expressed his willingness to watch another Jets offensive possession. Eli Manning humorously questioned Lawrence’s desire to witness a Jets drive, quipping, “You want to see a Jets drive? No one has said that all year long.”

The Mannings have a history of lighthearted banter directed at the Jets. Last year, Peyton criticized the Jets for attempting 59 passes in their season-opening loss. In a similar vein, watching Zach Wilson’s performance as the Jets’ quarterback in the absence of Aaron Rodgers in a Monday night game left Peyton equally unimpressed.

While the Manning brothers have no shortage of jests for the Jets, fans are quick to remind Eli of his own team’s struggles. In Week 8, the New York Giants had a dismal performance with -9 passing yards during an embarrassing 13-10 loss to the Jets, which adds some levity to the situation.

Ironically, Eli Manning’s NFL career began with the San Diego Chargers, who drafted him as the No. 1 overall pick. However, they traded him to the Giants as he reportedly refused to play for them. Despite Eli’s jests, the Jets didn’t do much to prove him wrong, with five punts and two lost fumbles on eight first-half possessions.

Despite their struggles, the Jets still had the opportunity to turn things around in the game, trailing 17-6 in the third quarter.
