Dodgers Suffer Devastating Injury To Key Player

Dodgers shortstop Gavin Lux suffered what looked to be a devastating injury yesterday in Los Angeles’ spring training game against the Padres.

While running from second to third base, Lux’s right knee buckled and he stumbled to the ground in pain.

Lux told manager Dave Roberts that he “heard something pop” on the outer part of his knee.

The Dodgers are awaiting MRI results…

“As a player, you’re thinking the worst,” Roberts said. “But we don’t know a whole lot right now. I think right now we’re just hoping it’s more benign and not anything substantial.”

Roberts continued: “Obviously a guy that you’re expected to start at shortstop, for him to miss any time is not good. I don’t want to jump to any conclusions yet until we get the testing results, but it’s really unfortunate, because Gavin has done a lot to get ready for this spring and this season.”

Lux, 25, was set to make the switch from second base to shortstop to take over for the departed Trea Turner.

There’s no doubt he’s a key piece to the Dodgers lineup and if the injury ends up being as bad as feared, it will be an enormous blow for LA…

The baseball world reacted to the unfortunate news…

“Bro I think he tore his acl.”

“It didn’t take long for the Dodgers to become the walking wounded! I hope it’s not serious.”

“Hoping the best for Gavin Lux. One of my favorite dodgers and players in baseball. Met him and had a 10 minute conversation with him after a post op for one of my surgeries I had. He’s such a good dude so I hope his knee is ok and he recovers quickly.”

“Doesn’t matter if he’s a Dodger, still a human being. hope Gavin Lux is ok.”

At least the #Dodgers still have Miguel Rojas or Chris Taylor to start at SS. Looks more and more that Hayward will get a spot if Lux is done for the season.”
