Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders made headlines across the college football world with a record-setting performance against TCU this past Saturday.
Of course, Shedeur is the son of head coach Deion Sanders – and it was Prime who helped shed light on why his son had such a remarkable performance in the stunning 45-42 upset over the Horned Frogs.
Coming out of high school, Shedeur was already a highly-rated four-star prospect and one of the top quarterbacks in his class, receiving offers from prestigious programs nationwide. However, his decision to play for Jackson State University was clearly influenced by his father’s appointment as the head coach.
During his time with the Tigers, Shedeur Sanders showcased his talent by throwing 70 touchdowns and amassing nearly 7,000 passing yards.
When Deion took on the head coaching role at the University of Colorado, Shedeur chose to follow his father to Boulder, a decision that would ultimately benefit the Buffaloes immensely.
Despite initial doubts about Shedeur’s transition from the FCS to the competitive PAC-12 conference, his performance against TCU silenced the skeptics.
In the thrilling 45-42 victory, Shedeur set a school record with 510 passing yards, connecting on four touchdown passes and officially cementing his status as a possible Heisman Trophy candidate.
Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, Sanders reveled that his son was disrespected by a key member of TCU’s coaching staff, which added fuel to his motivation to get payback for being slighted.
“The reason he was so intense and so relaxed and ready, not only did he study, but we went to the camp of a certain school, and this certain coordinator we just played against, he was at that school. We went to this school to camp, and he didn’t pay him no attention,” Prime said.
Coach Prime tells @PatMcAfeeShow that Shedeur had extra motivation against TCU because he was ignored by TCU OC Kendal Briles at a camp in high school 👀

The coordinator in question was Kendal Briles, known for his previous coaching stints at Baylor, Florida Atlantic, Houston, Florida State, and Arkansas. Briles had recently taken on the role of offensive coordinator at TCU in the offseason following the departure of Garrett Riley.
Deion implied that Briles may not have viewed Shedeur Sanders as a viable prospect during the recruitment process.
Needless to say, Sheduer and his father seem to have gotten the last laugh on the matter…

What do you think of Deion, Sheduer and the Buffaloes?
Did they catch lightning in a bottle against an overrated TCU team who were playing their first game without Riley and Heisman finalist Max Duggan?
Or is Colorado legit?
