Less than two weeks after wrapping up her performance at the Paris Olympics, Simone Biles was back in the spotlight.
This time, Biles was back stateside supporting her husband, Jonathan Owens, as he took the field for the Chicago Bears in a preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday.
The one problem with Biles’ appearance at the game was the fact that she wore a Green Bay Packers jacket!
Of course, Owens previously played for the Packers before joining the rival Bears. However, being one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL, many fans took notice of Biles’ surprising wardrobe choice.
“What’s up, Chicago? Go Bears,” Biles said in a video shared on the NFL’s X account, showing her enthusiasm for her husband’s team – which added an extra twist to the whole situation.
The star gymnast, who secured three gold medals in Paris — in the individual all-around, team all-around, and vault events — as well as a silver in the women’s floor final, had previously revealed that she was struggling physically towards the end of the Olympics.
Despite a calf injury that led to her wearing a walking boot during a post-competition interview, Biles demonstrated her resilience throughout the Games.
Notably, she was also seen in the boot at the Bears game, suggesting she’s still taking precautions.
Owens expressed deep admiration for his wife’s perseverance, comparing her determination to that of football players pushing through pain on the field.
“My wife is a warrior,” Owens said. “Her ability to persevere through that and go out there and still dominate was amazing to watch.”
“I equate it to how we are in football. You limp around, and it will hurt before, but as soon as you go, you forget about it.
“Pain tolerance, the way she was able to go out there and look graceful and people didn’t have a clue what was going on.”
During the Olympics, the Bears allowed Owens to miss parts of training camp so he could travel to Paris to support Biles.
At one point, he was seen wearing a shirt featuring her name and images, showcasing his pride in her accomplishments.
Biles and Owens, who got engaged in February 2022 and married the following year, continue to support each other in their respective careers.
Owens, who began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent, signed his first multi-year contract in March — a two-year, $4.75 million deal with the Bears.
In Saturday’s game, Owens made an impact with five tackles in the first half, helping the Bears shut out the Bengals — who were without star quarterback Joe Burrow — through the opening 30 minutes.
