CHA-CHING!!: With Andy Reid Now King, HERE Is The Fascinating List Of The Top 10 Highest Paid Coaches In The NFL … Who Doesn’t Belong??

It may seem crazy to think about now, but in the leadup to this past Super Bowl there were rumors spreading that Andy Reid could possibly be retiring.

There was even speculation that the Kansas City Chiefs already had a backroom deal with Bill Belichick to take over for Reid. (Really.)

Well, needless to say, we know how all of those rumors turned out…

Not only is Reid sticking around, the Chiefs just rewarded him with a brand-new contract.

While exact numbers are not yet confirmed, the massive new deal is expected to be worth approximately $100 million over five years.

The deal officially makes Reid the highest paid coach in the entire NFL.

On the brink of a potential three-peat, he has proven to be worth every single penny for the Chiefs.

While Reid now takes over the top spot, here is a look at the top 10 highest paid coaches in terms of annual salary…

#10. Zac Taylor, Cincinnati Bengals: $6 Million

Taylor took the helm in Cincinnati back in 2019. Once thought to be on the hot-seat, Taylor has become one of the best young coaches in the NFL. Although, in fairness, quarterback Joe Burrow has a wholeee lot to do with that.

#9. Sean McDermott, Buffalo Bills: $8 Million

While McDermott has certainly done a great job in Buffalo, doubts still remain whether or not the Bills have “peaked” under him. 2024 is shaping up to be a vital year for McDermott and company. Can they FINALLY get over the hump?

#8. Doug Pederson, Jacksonville Jaguars: $8.5 Million

Pederson got screwed in Philadelphia. Shortly after leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl title, Pederson was kicked to the curb. Their loss was Jacksonville’s gain. Having said that, he and the Jags MUST take an enormous step forward this season.

#7. Kyle Shanahan, San Francisco 49ers: $10 Million

You could certainly make the argument that Shanahan is underpaid. Considering just how important he is and how great of a job he’s done, the 49ers are getting a bargain at $10 million. After nearly winning two Lombardi’s already, will this FINALLY be the season Shanahan and the Niners break through?

#6. John Harbaugh, Baltimore Ravens: $12 Million

The Baltimore Ravens are one of the most consistent franchises in the entire NFL and Harbaugh is the main reason why. Hungry to win his second Super Bowl, Harbaugh always has his teams in the mix no matter how ravaged they are by injury.

#5. Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh Steelers: $12.5 Million

I mind as well just copy and paste what I wrote above. The Steelers are a model franchise and Tomlin captains the ship. With a career record of 153-86-1, Pittsburgh is always in the mix. Having said that, the pressure is ratcheting up on Tomlin due to the fact that the Steelers haven’t fielded a true Super Bowl contender since before Ben Roethlisberger retired.

#4. Sean McVay, Los Angeles Rams: $14 Million

McVay is undoubtedly one of the best coaches in the entire NFL. He’s a true difference-maker and it routinely shows on game day. He nearly retired due to burn-out. The truth is he would have made even more money in broadcasting than coaching. However, when coaching is in the blood, it’s in the blood.

#3. Jim Harbaugh, Los Angeles Chargers: $16 Million

You knew it was going to take a pretty penny to lure Jim Harbaugh back to the NFL – and sure enough it did. The Chargers broke the piggy-bank for Harbaugh and have put their faith in him to take quarterback Justin Herbert to the next level. You’d be a fool to bet against Big Jim.

#2. Sean Payton, Denver Broncos: $18 Million

He may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but it’s impossible to deny the fact that Payton is one of the smartest and most impactful coaches in NFL history. His arrogance may drive you crazy, but Payton is cut from the Bill Parcells cloth. He knows his worth and he made sure he got it when Denver came calling.

#1. Andy Reid, Kansas City Chiefs: $20(ish) Million

And finally, here he is – the TOP dog … Speaking of difference-makers, Andy Reid is just that and then some. It’s funny to think that he once had the reputation of being an enormous choke artist. Those Philly days are long behind him. Attempting to win a third straight Super Bowl with Kansas City, Reid will enter the 2024 season a very, very rich man.

What are your thoughts on the top 10 highest-paid coaches in the NFL?

Is there anybody on the list who surprises you?
