CFB Insider Claims This Polarizing QB Will Struggle Mightily Out The Gates

As the college football season rapidly approaches, several prominent quarterbacks are adapting to new teams and offensive schemes.

Among them, Riley Leonard, who previously played for the Duke Blue Devils, now suits up for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Meanwhile, Will Rogers, formerly of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, has transferred to the Washington Huskies, and DJ Uiagalelei, who led the Oregon State Beavers last season (and Clemson beforehand), is set to start for the Florida State Seminoles.

The upcoming season opener between Florida State and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets has drawn particular attention, with analysts predicting how Uiagalelei might fare in his new environment.

On a recent episode of the “College GameDay Podcast,” ESPN’s Pete Thamel shared his thoughts on the matchup, noting that the game could be low-scoring as Uiagalelei adjusts to Florida State’s offense.

“This could end up being a low-scoring game as DJU gets accustomed to the Florida State offense, and they obviously have a lot of holes to fill,” Thamel explained.

The Seminoles are rebuilding after losing several key players to the NFL, including quarterback Jordan Travis, wide receivers Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson, and running back Trey Benson.

To fill these gaps, Florida State has turned to the transfer portal, bringing in talent like former Alabama running back Roydell Williams, former Crimson Tide receiver Malik Benson, and ex-Indiana running back Jaylin Lucas.

Despite these changes, the Seminoles retain some top talent, including offensive tackle Darius Washington.

Additionally, their 2024 recruiting class is highlighted by highly-rated prospects such as quarterback Luke Kromenhoek and cornerbacks Charles Lester III and Jamari Howard.

Mike Norvell’s team will enter the season with a massive chip on their shoulders following the disappointment/disrespect of being left out of last year’s College Football Playoff.

The Seminoles will kick off the season this Saturday against ACC rival Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland.

What are your thoughts on Thamel’s comments on DJ???
