Buffalo Bills Make Coaching Change, Promote Joe Brady As Interim Offensive Coordinator

The Buffalo Bills have made a significant coaching change, parting ways with offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey amid a challenging season. Following Monday night’s loss to the Denver Broncos, the Bills decided to relieve Dorsey of his duties, with quarterbacks coach Joe Brady stepping in as the interim replacement.

Head coach Sean McDermott emphasized the move’s intention to inject increased confidence and energy into the team, seeking more consistent production. The decision comes as the Bills grapple with a 5-5 record, dropping out of the playoff contention in a fiercely competitive AFC.

Dorsey assumed the role of offensive coordinator in 2022 after Brian Daboll’s departure. Despite high expectations, the Bills’ offense struggled under Dorsey’s guidance, marked by turnovers and a lack of offensive rhythm. Quarterback Josh Allen, who had previously endorsed Dorsey for the position, has faced challenges, leading the NFL with 14 turnovers and 11 interceptions.

While statistically ranking among the top NFL offenses, the Bills’ inconsistent performances and offensive struggles prompted McDermott to make this coaching change. The team aims to address issues with scoring points, particularly in the first half, and minimize turnovers.

Brady, the new interim offensive coordinator, brings experience from his time with the Carolina Panthers and LSU. McDermott sees this move as an opportunity to infuse the offense with new energy and creativity, hoping to enhance the team’s overall performance.

The Bills, entering a bye week after their latest loss, are focused on regaining momentum and overcoming challenges in the remaining games of the season, with an emphasis on complementary football and improved offensive execution.
