Following the most disappointing loss in Dallas Cowboys history, most people thought for sure that head coach Mike McCarthy was a goner.
McCarthy has led “America’s Team” to three straight 12-5 seasons – but each one has ended in absolute disaster.
With the best coaching market we’ve ever seen at owner Jerry Jones’ fingertips, most Dallas fans were hoping to swap McCarthy for a future Hall of Famer such as Bill Belichick (or Jim Harbaugh, Mike Vrabel, Pete Carrol, Jon Gruden, the list goes on and on…)
The last thing (most) people expected was for Jones to simply run it back with Big Mike … But that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
That’s right, Jerry has decided to pass up on all of the sexy coaches available and stick with McCarthy…
Not serious about winning a SB. All talk.

“I believe this team is very close and capable of achieving our ultimate goals, and the best step forward for us will be with Mike McCarthy as our head coach,” Jones said in a team-released statement.
“There is great benefit to continuing the team’s progress under Mike’s leadership as our head coach,” he added.

“Our loss on Sunday (against Green Bay) is shared by everyone here, not just Coach McCarthy … Our players. Our coaches. Our front office. Myself. There is accountability for our results,” Jones said.
“I am accountable for our results. The lens we use to view and evaluate Coach McCarthy is holistic. While we’re all disappointed with the result on Sunday and with our playoff record, I am 100% supportive of him as our head coach and ability to reach our goals.”

You’ll have to excuse all of the angry Cowboy fans in your life … Most, if not all, will find Jones’ decision extremely tough to accept.
The Cowboys may also be in the market for a new defensive coordinator, as Dan Quinn is scheduled to interview with several teams.
Jones mentioned a thorough review of the team and roster, hinting at potential changes beyond the coaching staff.

“We will start our process of review and decision-making regarding everything that impacts our team and roster,” Jones said in the statement.
“While we’re not going to address specific players and extensions or free agents at this point, it deserves our deepest review and consideration, and it will get it.”
Mike Tomlin. Career record 173-100-2. 8-10 in the playoffs. 1 Super Bowl.
Mike McCarthy. Career record 167-102-2. 11-11 in the playoffs. 1 Super Bowl.
Tomlin better in season. McCarthy in playoffs. Same # of SB titles.

The futures of Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons all need to be addressed.
(Did anyone see Parsons on Sunday by the way??? … Was he at the stadium???)

What are your thoughts on Jones deciding to keep McCarthy?
Do you think he’s crazy to not fire him and go after Belichick?
Or is keeping McCarthy and “staying the course” the right plan of action?
Speaking of Belichick, where do you think he’ll end up???
