BREAKING: All-American Superstar Will Surprisingly Enter The Transfer Portal … Which Title Contender Will Land Him??

College athletics – and football in particular – have become a game of musical chairs in recent years.

Unfortunately for Oregon State, when the music stopped at the most crucial time, they were left seatless.

Coming off a solid 2023 season in what was the final year of the Pac-12 conference, the future suddenly looks bleaker than ever for Oregon State.

Besides coaching changes and the uncertainty of the future, the Beavers just found out that All-American running back Damien Martinez is reportedly set to enter the transfer portal, joining a list of key departures from the team.

According to Jake Hedberg of 247Sports, the talented Martinez is poised to make the move after two seasons with the team.

“Multiple sources have indicated to BeaverBlitz that star Oregon State All-American running back Damien Martinez intends to enter the transfer portal when it opens next week,” Hedberg reported.

The news comes on the heels of significant losses for the Beavers, including quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei’s transfer to the Florida State Seminoles and the anticipated departure of offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga, who is expected to be a top-20 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Martinez’s potential transfer presents a significant setback for Oregon State, leaving the team with only three scholarship running backs on the roster (Jam Griffin, Anthony Hankerson, and Isaiah Newell.)

During his time in Corvallis, the 6-foot, 232-pound Martinez showcased his talent, amassing impressive statistics on the ground.

Martinez rushed for 1,185 yards and nine touchdowns last season, while also contributing 126 receiving yards in the passing game.

The departure of Martinez compounds the challenges facing the Beavers, who are also undergoing a coaching transition.

Former head coach Jonathan Smith departed for the Michigan State Spartans, taking key assistants, including offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren and assistant HC/RBs coach Keith Bhonapha, with him.

Trent Bray, a longtime assistant under Smith’s leadership, has been appointed as the new head coach of the Beavers.

Bray will be supported by Ryan Gunderson as offensive coordinator and Keith Heyward as defensive coordinator.

In 2023, the Beavers raced to an impressive 8-2 start before finishing the season with three straight losses, including a 40-8 defeat to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Sun Bowl.

What are your thoughts on Martinez’s decision to enter the transfer portal?

More importantly, where do you think he will end up???
