Booger McFarland: There’s A Clear & Obvious Heisman Frontrunner But It’s NOT Who You Think…

As we head down the final stretch of the season, the jury is still out on who will be the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner.

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix is locked up as the favorite entering this weekend.

However, he has multiple stars biting at his heels.

One of those stars is LSU Tiges quarterback Jayden Daniels who’s in the middle of a remarkable season.

According to ESPN analyst Booger McFarland, the Heisman should indeed be awarded to Daniels – and the voting shouldn’t even be close…

“The best player is Jayden Daniels and to be honest it’s really not close if the Heisman goes to the best player,” McFarland wrote. “Eye test, stats, wow factor. He is unreal. And precedent has been set. Lamar won the Heisman on a non-CFP team.”

“Eye test, stats, wow factor. He is unreal. And precedent has been set. Lamar won the Heisman on a non-CFP team,” McFarland added.

Despite LSU being out of the national title hunt, McFarland emphasized Daniels exceptional performance, drawing parallels to Lamar Jackson’s Heisman win in 2016 with Louisville, despite a 9-4 record.

If statistics meant everything, Daniels would have a strong case.

He currently leads the country with a 3,164 passing yards, 30 touchdowns (4 interceptions), and a 202.1 quarterback rating.

In addition, Daniels has done plenty of damage with his legs as well … He has 918 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.

Despite McFarland’s endorsement, betting markets currently favor Oregon’s Bo Nix as the Heisman favorite entering this weekend.

Nix has thrown for 3,135 passing yards and 29 touchdowns against a mere two interceptions … He’s also incredibly accurate at 77.2%.

Also, his team is much better and they remain in the national title picture – unlike Daniels’ Tigers.

(Let’s also not forget that Booker went to LSU … Just like Daniels.)

Who do you think the Heisman Trophy winner should be?
