Big Ten Superstar Labeled The Next Travis Kelce, Perhaps Even Better

The Michigan Wolverines are set to showcase a revamped football team this year, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.

With 10 of their 11 offensive starters from last season moving on, the spotlight now firmly rests on the one returning starter: tight end Colston Loveland.

A standout performer from last year, Loveland is poised to make an even bigger impact this season and is projected to be a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL draft.

His return is a significant boost for the Wolverines, who are looking to capitalize on his talent and experience.

Loveland has proven himself to be an exceptionally well-rounded player since joining Michigan. His effectiveness in both the passing and running games has set him apart from most tight ends.

Known for their robust running game, the Wolverines require their tight ends to be formidable blockers, a role Loveland excels in. His versatility and skill make him a vital asset to the team.

During the Big Ten Media Days, Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore praised Loveland, drawing comparisons to NFL great Travis Kelce.

ā€œHave you ever heard of Travis Kelce?ā€ Moore remarked. ā€œThatā€™s what youā€™re looking at with Loveland. That dudeā€™s an animal. Heā€™s an absolute animal and the guy just works.

“He reminds me of Blake [Corum] in that we had to stop Blake from doing extra work like Colston does. ā€˜You canā€™t do that much. You have to stop. You got to hold out.ā€™ The sky is the limit for him.

“[Heā€™s improved] everything. Run game, looks like a receiver when heā€™s running routes. Itā€™s going to be awesome to watch him.ā€

Michigan fans, as well as the entire Big Ten, know just how special of a player Loveland is. His impact was clear as day during the Wolverines’ dominant national title run last season.

Considering his blocking ability, perhaps Moore should have compared Loveland to Rob Gronkowski or George Kittle. We all love Travis Kelce, but you could make the argument that Loveland is ALREADY a better blocker than he is.

Regardless, if the Wolverines are going to have any chance at a repeat, Loveland is going to be a vital reason why. (Assuming Michigan doesn’t get nailed with a postseason ban.)

Last season, Colston Loveland made a significant impact, recording 45 receptions for 649 yards and four touchdowns.

His playmaking ability was on full display, particularly during the national championship game where he made one of the seasonā€™s most pivotal plays.

Lovelandā€™s performance last year solidified his status as a likely future NFL star.

As he heads into the 2024 season, Loveland aims to further elevate his game and enhance his draft stock. As the most seasoned player on Michiganā€™s offense, he will have ample opportunities to shine.

Given Michigan’s heavy utilization of the tight end position, Loveland is expected to be a central figure in their offensive strategy.

How do you feel about the Travis Kelce comparison? … Do you think Loveland’s potential is that high? … Perhaps even higher???
