Baseball Fans Feel Sad About Longtime Manager’s Passing

Fans mourn the loss of a beloved former baseball player and manager.

USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale shared the news that Pat Corrales, once a standout catcher who later became a manager, has passed away at the age of 82.

“RIP legendary Pat Corrales, 82, a fiery player, manager and baseball executive who leaves behind quite a fabulous legacy. It was a privilege to know and spend time with him,” Nightengale said.

Corrales had a rich history in the sport, with ten years as a player and many more years coaching and managing.

Many fans expressed their sorrow over the news on Monday.

“Was the Nationals’ bench coach under Manny Acta and parts of Jim Riggleman and Davey Johnson’s tenures. A very nice man with a boatload of baseball and life experiences,” a fan commented.

Another mentioned, “Famously fired by the Phillies in July 1983 despite sharing first place in the NL East with the Cardinals. Replaced by Paul Owens, who led the “Wheeze Kids” to the NL crown…RIP…”

Others simply expressed their grief, saying “Oh no,” and “RIP to the best replacement manager for Bobby Cox in the game.”

We send our condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time.

May he rest in peace.
