As Alabama gears up for their season opener, Head Coach Nick Saban faces the pivotal decision of selecting the starting quarterback.
Though Jalen Milroe, Tyler Buchner, and Ty Simpson have been vying for the spot throughout summer training, Milroe seems to have an edge. However, Saban maintains that the final choice is yet to be determined.
Throwing down a challenge to his quarterbacks, Saban remarked, “I told the quarterbacks, ‘Hey, quit looking around for me to make a decision one who is going going to play. How about you playing good enough that I don’t have a choice,”.
He emphasized that the ball was in their court, adding, “That’s what you can control, that’s what you can do and somebody needs to do that. And it’s sort of taking shape to some degree, but somebody’s got to do it.”
While Saban may make a choice for the opener against Middle Tennessee, he made it clear that this doesn’t lock in the quarterback for the entire season. With a history of taking his time in selecting a quarterback, Saban seems poised to continue that approach in 2023, ensuring the best fit for the team.
