College Football Playoff Championship Ticket Prices Take A Significant Hit After Alabama And Texas Lost

If you’re eager to witness the College Football Playoff national championship showdown between Michigan and Washington in person, be prepared to dig deep into your pockets. However, the ticket prices might not be as astronomical as they would’ve been if Texas had managed to overcome Washington in the semifinals.

Michigan, ranked No. 1, and Washington, ranked No. 2, secured their spots in the championship game by maintaining their perfect seasons. Michigan secured a thrilling overtime victory over Alabama in the Rose Bowl, while Washington held off Texas in a dramatic Sugar Bowl showdown.

While Michigan is undoubtedly a formidable team, having Alabama as their opponent would have likely been more lucrative for ticket sellers. The GameTime ticketing site revealed a significant drop in ticket prices for the national title game following the eliminations of Alabama and Texas.

Currently, the lowest-priced “get-in” seats are available for $2,101 each, including taxes and fees. This is a notable decrease from the $3,553 price tag each seat carried after Michigan’s victory and before Texas’ loss to Washington. Top-priced seats are selling for $10,698 per seat, down from $12,055 per ticket during the same period.

In addition to the GameTime findings, secondary markets like TicketMaster and StubHub have also witnessed nearly a 50% drop in prices, making it more affordable for fans.

Michigan aims to secure its first national championship since 1997, while Washington hopes to end a national title drought dating back to 1991.

Michigan’s journey to the championship game was marked by overcoming a significant cheating scandal that has left a lasting impression on fans.

Under the guidance of coach Kalen DeBoer, in his second year with the team, Washington has reached its first national championship appearance.

As the highly anticipated matchup between these undefeated teams approaches, ticket prices may continue to fluctuate due to the immense media attention surrounding this historic game.
