In a thrilling College Football Playoff semifinal showdown on New Years night, the Washington Huskies avoided a near-disaster as they held on for a dramatic 37-31 victory over the Texas Longhorns.
In the euphoria of the victory, which secured their spot in next Monday’s national title game, Washington players, including Jaivion Green and Dyson McCutcheon, wanted to return some trash talk to rowdy Texas fans.
As the Huskies celebrated their Sugar Bowl triumph, Green and McCutcheon engaged with Longhorn supporters, making the infamous “horns down” symbol.
The situation escalated when a passionate Longhorns fan, clearly upset with the loss, confronted the players and seemingly challenged them to a fight.
KVUE-TV reporter Cory Mose captured the intense exchange, posting the viral video on X.

In the footage, the Texas fan can be heard shouting: “Remember me, motherf–ker!”
Despite the tension, the Huskies are now set to compete for the national championship, aiming to secure their first title since 1991.
The impressive performance of quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who threw for 430 yards and two touchdowns, played a pivotal role in Washington’s upset of the Longhorns.
During the postgame celebration, Penix Jr. addressed Washington fans, excitedly shouting: “Huskie Nation, stand up! We goin’ to the natty!”
Michael Penix Jr. is special.
He proved it when I saw him at fall camp in August.
And proved it again week after week this season.
But I don’t know if I’ve seen him play better than last night.
And if you asked anyone around the Husky facility if they were expecting this… pic.twitter.com/eLEKifspCK

Reflecting on the game, Huskies coach Kalen DeBoer commended his team’s toughness, stating: “Those guys are the most resilient guys I have ever been around.”
With both Michigan and Washington entering the championship game undefeated, fans can anticipate a fierce battle featuring contrasting styles.
Who do you think will win – Michigan or Washington?
As far as the viral clip, plenty of people had a whole lot to say on social media…
“Imagine thinking after a game “imma hang out and try to fight the team that just beat my team …yeah that’s the plan.”

“But I always hear Texas fans and players are the classiest!! What an absolute horrible example to set for your kid.”
“Dejected Bevo walking away in the background makes this even better.”

“Man all this just to get their asses kicked against michigan. No sportsmanship whatsoever from this poverty team that has been bailed out by the refs the whole season.”

“It’s easy to bark after the refs handed you the game from the beginning to the end whistle. Texas did themselves no favors, but the entire world saw how one-sided this entire game was called. You can’t beat the refs. Just saying what everyone clearly saw!”
